Urban Outfitters Sale! London Location

Hey Guys!

If anyone happens to live in London, Ontario then you might be interested to know that Urban Outfitters will be celebrating their 1 year anniversary! On January 24, 2014 they will be hosting an event to celebrate, but more excitingly:

There will be a 20% discount off all in-store items!

I know it's pretty unsubstantial, I mean even Aritzia usually starts their sales at 20, and Urban's sales discounts can be pretty amazing, but rarely are their regular items discounted. I'll definitely be popping in to check it out, maybe the SPC card will work too (fingers crossed).

Night Creams and Skin Care

Alright great, my birthday just passed and I was excited, celebrated New Years - all the usual. I mean, I'm still young right?

Apparently it's never too early to take proper care of your skin, and furthermore early protection is key towards wrinkle prevention!

That being said, I have never really paid too much attention to my skincare routine. I know that SPF is extremely important and have been slacking now that it is summer (which I know is no excuse), but I really have no idea where to start now!

What are some good night creams or eye products that you recommend?

I'll update you later on what I decide to go with and how if I like it or not!

January 2014 Benefit Topbox Review

Alright I haven't been that impressed with the past few topboxes, and to cut costs I've thought about cancelling my subscription. I figured, alright if this one sucks I'm going to finally cancel it, but then I got this.

I filled out one of those emails they send every so often, fill out a survey and give them input as to which box you prefer: regular or their specialty one. Normally I go with their regular one but I really like benefit and was glad to be chosen for one this month!

Honestly, this month it felt really worth it. I mean, on the desk I actually have Sephora's goody box from Benefit (value pack) that I unfortunately am giving away as a gift. The mascara Bad Gal Lash seems identical to the size that you pay $12 alone for at Sephora!

Anyways it was cute they set up the theme to go with Chinese New Year! An

The typical packaging that the box comes in.

The nicely decorated 'carton' everything was placed inside.

A quarter has been placed next to samples for size reference.

I wish they had sent "They're Real" but I love this as well!

This is a multi tint that can be used for lips, blush and etc. I tried it on, and for lips it's really great because it's nice and subtle while giving just a little bit of color.

It's funny, I've gotten so many mascaras over the past year that I've had a subscription I don't remember the last time I've actually had to go to the store and purchase one myself. In addition with the Sephora birthday gifts I feel like I always have one to go to 'in-storage' if I need a new one.

Haha I accidentally had the title as January 2015 - guess I'm looking too far into the future. Anyway now that's what the link has been set to!

Pros and Cons of Online Courses

Pro:
-You may line to lectures more actively if you get to choose when to listen. Sometimes classes are scheduled at hours (often the morning), which are simply unideal; at a point where you lack the energy and concentration to focus at all. I like being able to choose when it is that I listen because I know that by setting aside the time for it I will actually be awake.

-I like being able to pause and continue. You can listen to lectures in between classes or while you have small gaps, I seriously feel like it helps me feel more productive.

Cons:
- You must have self discipline. Without this it is easy to forget about the course and continue the course imagining that you only have 4 'actual classes'

-Some people like more structured class environments

*This is all for online courses at 'actual' universities.

Sephora Birthday 2014

Happy New Year!

A new year means a new round of Sephora Birthday gifts. Well, I tend to associate these two since my birthday is on New Years so I pretty much get to be one of the first group of people to receive the new sephora gift! I know there's already been some promotional pictures but everyone loves seeing personal photos as well taken by bloggers themselves right?

Before I direct you on your way to the photos I've got to say, this is really an incredible program that definitely is win-win-win! It is great for Sephora since it promotes their Beauty Insider Loyalty Card and brings customers into their store where they might be 'accidentally' side tracked into making other purchases on their way to the cashiers. It is great for customers because who doesn't love getting free stuff, or even better free stuff on their birthday, or even better free makeup on their birthday! And lastly, which company doesn't want to be Sephora's Official Gift sponsor of the year? Sephora has a huge loyalty program, and just think about how many people are now holding onto your products and giving these sample sized a chance ? It's simply a very effective sample, distributing, and marketing technique!

Onwards. Here are some close ups. Excuse the image quality, lighting and etc.

My skin looks super yellow or orange for some reason but hopefully it helps you get an idea of how the lipstick looks like. At first glance it looks like a very bold, stage red, but it is actually quite subtle and was creamy with just the right amount of colour for an every day look!

I haven't worn the mascara too much yet but the stores associate told me she was actually liking it more than Benefit's They're Real from last year (which I loved!!)

It looks really red but I assure you it is not (whether you were or not looking forward to it).

It's a "christmas" tree brush.

My skin doesn't normally look like that, the lighting was really strange.

I actually have to apologize because these photos do not do it justice. It actually looks even lighter than that and more subtle.

Black Tory Burch Amanda Mini Satchel

Here are just some close ups of the bag that I bought in December and mentioned in the post with my shopping haul. It definitely feels like a quality bag, the black leather is so soft and the gold hardware is just beautiful against it.

I forgot to mention this but if you look on the sides there are two hooks attached. As is the trend of 2013, many companies have started attaching straps to their purses to give it a 'multi-use' kind of an end. It looks great both ways whether it be across the body, or simply hanging from the crook of your elbow.

My iPhone 5 was stolen, and I'm stuck with a 4 now so I apologize for the quality of the pictures! Also I know this wasn't much of a review, but I know I always appreciate seeing other people's pictures as opposed to the few stock images posted on store websites so I just tagged it as such so that hopefully more people would find this.

Leave a comment with any questions or any opinions, thanks!

New Years Resolutions 2014

"I had some resolutions.. I forget what they were though"

I'm just going to go ahead and write down some of my resolutions for 2014. Of course, you shouldn't have to wait just for the New Year to make positive changes for yourself, but for some reason the start of the year, fresh start, just seems to be a good catalyst for it.

  1. Be stronger. Physically. Mentally. Hit the gym, build some muscle, lean out and lose some of that fat! Don't let other's actions affect you as much, don't let other people determine your emotions and make you mad, sad, or grief. I feel like this is unavoidable, so if anything try to let it affect you less.
  2. Be happier. Don't depend on other people for this, make small changes in your own life.. This year I realized that I just wanted to be a lot more knowledgeable. Read more. It will help you a lot, when people realize that you are actually well rounded, well learned and that you can actually converse on many topics it will make a difference (it will also help when people are assessing you ie. any med school interviews -hopefully)!
  3. Drink more water. It stops you from snacking and eating as much, and there's just a huge list of all the benefits you reap when you stop depriving your body of it it. Drink a glass in the morning one at night, heck keep your sippy cup with you throughout the day. Drink at least 750mL a day if not 1.5L!
  4. Be less stressed. If 2013 taught me anything, I can not handle stress well. The more stressed I get about something, more likely I am to crash and burn and to simply fail. So being less stressed and clear minded should only increase my productivity then.
  5. Stop letting your life revolve around food. I swear it regulated by days "this until Lunch", "until Dinner", "After Dinner", or "What to Snack". Eat when you're actually hungry, not when you are bored or just because you're like oo it tastes good. Free stuff: my biggest excuse. Just because it's free does not mean you have to eat it, don't stop just..maybe eat half.
  6. Get your life together. Be more organized, and a little bit more clean. Try to stop losing everything, it makes you sad, stressed, and is literally costing you (money) to replace everything.
  7. Stop rushing, it is better to be early than late.
  8. Assume all guys -are just friends. It doesn't seem help to assume otherwise
  9. Update this blog more :) Nobody seems to read it but I don't mind that ! By the time I decide that this finished it will be like a journal/memoir, but nevertheless I love getting comments.. even if it has only been a few. So if you do end up stumbling across this page, please leave a message, even if it's just a 'Hi'!
There are definitely some more that are necessary but these seem to be the first key resolutions I want to be reminded of !

What were your resolutions this year?

Orlando Premium Outlets and a Little More

I swear I should start a challenge: hit up all the Premium Outlets, since I've already been to so many. Off the top of my head I've been to some in Pennsylvania, Woodbury/New York, California, and Florida. I could actually probably find a more thorough list if I signed onto my account on their website..

Anyways I was in Florida for just over a week this December (2013) and here is most of what I collected! I always buy too many extra/accessories and miscellaneous stuff and too little tops - which is what I am usually lacking when I look in my closet trying to figure out what to buy!

So in the top right is a Mini Amanda Black Tory Burch purse. I love it, but to be honest it's a bag that I've really grown to love. At first glance I didn't even love it that much, hell, I wasn't even looking for a black back! But I've realized the black really makes it look like a high quality bag along with the gold hardware. I've actually been searching for a Tory Burch bag for the past two summers. I even ordered this very bag in another colour (Electric Eel or something) from Neiman Marcus unfortunately, but fortunately for me now, they were out of stock and were not able to follow through. I'm so thankful for the Vineland Tory Burch Outlet store!

Got some nice knit 'thick' socks from K-mart, $5/2 pairs due to an ongoing promotion. Here in Canada roots sells two pairs for something like $17! These will help me with the boots that are slightly too big for me.

About $80 worth of Forever 21 stuff - a really cute lace skirt for $7, a necklace, falsies, cuff earrings, a pair of heels (red/gold studded - I definitely think they were a) for $20, a black blouse, and leggings.

Cargo colour looking pants from J Crew - their factory store had a 50% off sale!

Some Victoria Secret body lotions for $3-4, a body spray for $4, and some PINK thongs!

Lululemon had a great sale where all bras were $20 ! Normally they can range from $40-60 which is really expensive, I got their Itty Bitty Bracer bra for running, I think it's normally over $65. I also got one of their tops that are attached to a sports bra for $36-38 which was pretty good considering it is also usually over $60.

Two necklaces from Charlette Reuse- thanks for the student discount!

On a separate note, I got a Sephora Gift Card for Christmas so I went ahead and bought myself the Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette. I've been eyeing it, I feel like an addict, I don't actually need it but I feel like I almost wanted it just to add it to my collection and because everyone raves about it so much! I have about $20 left and don't know what to spend it on (there's too much wonderful stuff in the store). I really like Benefit's They're Real Mascara.. but YSL has the most gorgeous Lipsticks...

I am also slightly embarassed to say I took the splurge, I splurged $22 on Tweezerman's Slanted Edge Tweezers. The reviews on them are phenomenol! For an item that can sell as low as $2-4, they certainly are successful selling them for more than 5x the bargain price. From what I've seen they hold up true to their word. You know those little tiny baby hairs that you can't seem to grab? The ones that slip from between your tweezers? Those don't happen using Tweezerman's, it's like an iron grip ! Furthermore ...I was so lucky the sales associates told me that the store was trying to get rid of a lot of old stock. They told me to take as many OPI nail designs as I wanted. They normally retail for over $10 and on top of that they through in more samples! So really the $22 paid for a lot more than just 1 pair of tweezers.

I finally picked up Trader Joe's Cookie Butter...mm. It really is delicious; however, the President Choice's spinoff might actually be just as good if not better. Who doesn't like eating Cookie in the form of a spread? What I found that the Cookie Butter actually tasted better spread across toast (and not eaten by the spoonful), who knew.

At Nordstrom Rack I got a 3.4 oz bottle of Versace Women for $45 + tax, I always feel like I'm spending too much but knowing that this normally retails for nearly $90 seemed to convince me otherwise! I also got a cute vertically striped blouse (I've started to avoid horizontal stripes, they don't seem to flatter me ahha).

A bottle of Raspberry Smirnoff from the Duty Free, just $17 for what I think might be a '40'. I'm pretty sure it looks bigger than a '26'?

Lastly I picked up a book about the events leading up to 1989 regarding the Soviet Union and the end of the Cold War.
